2007: A Year of Ups-and-Bumps
By: Myles, December 29th, 2007
First off, may 2008 be a great year for all! Business is important, but health and happiness is the most important thing.
We here at www.MarylandCommercialTitle.com and www.MylesTitle.com found 2007 to be a very exciting place to be. Not only did we launch two (2) new Internet portals, but we began our Blog, which creates a vehicle to convey to our clients and strategic partners — some going back nearly 30 years– urgent legal and newsworthy issues, as well as providing a platform to explore cutting-edge real estate based issues that are of concern to us all.
We have also taken a major step forward by memorializing our focus on the Commercial Title Insurance sector of the industry, while further focusing our attention by reaching out nationally, with respect to our expertise in Maryland Commercial Title issues.
And to our surprise, the power of the Internet has not been a disappointment. In fact, we have been overwhelmed by the responsiveness of the marketplace, from one coast to the other. For that we sincerely say — THANKS!
2007 was a year of huge deals and lots of success. 2007 was a year of breaking stories; we’ll never forget the mortgage collapse in the Sub-Prime market. New laws coming out of the Maryland Special Session, and their impact on investors will be interesting to say the least in the coming days. Federal investigations into RESPA and Congressional legislation that has tweaked the IRS Code, for the upcoming year.
Frankly, we believe that 2008 will be a bit bumpy, yet extraordinarily successful in the end. Real Estate deals are making headlines and the full impact on the commercial marketplace has yet to be seen. Wise investors will prevail, just as they have in the past. In fact, we look forward to helping our clients and strategic partners find deals (and making deals happen) that make sense. That’s been part of our magic in the past and we look forward to elevating our activities in the New Year.
One thing is clear, when the chips are down professionals look for quality and sound advice. Historically, during tumultuous times bankers, developers, investors and even lawyers have more of an appetite for the nuances of title and the value that quality advice and experience brings.
Alternatively, expect large number of title companies, if they haven’t already, to go belly-up in 2008. The flow of deals on the residential front, just aren’t there and the transition into commercial title, complex title issues and multi-state transactions isn’t for the faint of heart.
We believe that 2008 will test those of us that have been through this before and make us even stronger. The rest of the pack will most likely move on to something else.
We look forward to communicating with you more often in 2008. That’s our New Year’s resolution. We aim to be your #1 source for Maryland Real Estate News and Information.
We believe that information is POWER. So when important issues arise, we’ll be Blogging about them immediately. We’ll email you and even use snail mail (USPS) when necessary. We hope you find our efforts of value. And, as always, if you have ideas or comments …. post them to the Blog, email us or just (heavens forbid) … actually call us, directly. We’re available all the time.
To all — may God Bless you and your families in 2008. For those that we have had the pleasure to be of service to, we truly thank you for your business and your trust. It means the world to us.
May 2008 be a blessing to all!
